On 1st February we attended the musical “Back to the 80’s” in Boyle.  It was very enjoyable.

 

 

Fred, the Party Professor

On November 18th Fred, the Party Professor visited the school.  He performed magic tricks, songs and tunes on numerous musical instruments.  All the children enjoyed the show very much!!!

 

Ag Súgradh Le Chéile

Parents and children from the Junior Room participated in “Ag Súgradh Le Chéíle” on the 11th October in Cloonloo Hall. We played lots of fun games together!!!

 

 

Electrical Safety

We had a visitor called Stephen from ESB Networks who came to talk to us about electrical  safety . The children in Junior Infants were given high vis vests.

 

 

A Visit from a Historian

We had a visit from a Historian who taught the children about the evolution of musical instruments in Early Ireland Civilization.

 

1916 Commemoration

On Tuesday 15th of March we had a 1916 Commemoration Ceremony at the school.  Parents were invited in to share the occasion with the children.  The children sang songs including the National Anthem and the Proclamation was read aloud.  Then we raised the National Flag and concluded by inviting the parents inside for some refreshments.

 

Sun Safety

Karen from the dermatologist unit in Sligo Hospital visited the school on Friday 8th of April to talk to the children about sun safety.   Each child was given a sun hat and certificate.

 

The Magic Man

The Magic Man came to our school for a visit.  He played tunes on instruments, sang songs and performed tricks.  It was great fun.

 

FIS Award

Well done to the pupils of the Senior Room and Mr. Gannon on winning a FÍS Award for Best Newcomers with their film ” The Unknown Force”.  It can be viewed on the link  www.vimeo.com/140679445 .  The children in the Senior Room travelled to the Helix in Dublin to accept their award.

 

 

 

A Visit from the Defence Forces

 The oldest and youngest pupil in our school were presented with a tricolour and a copy of the proclamation by the Defence Forces on Wednesday 16th September. 

 

Readathon

Visit from a Garda

We had a visit from a Garda from Gurteen on Wednesday 19th June.   He spoke to us about road safety, travel safety and the job of a Garda.  He showed us his handcuffs and his baton.
