On 27th June 2017, Mr. Heffernan retired as Principal of St. Ronan’s N.S. Cloonloo.   The children presented Mr. Heffernan with an art piece they had created and signed with their fingerprints.  Fr. Caulfield, John Crummy and Ms. Jordan spoke to the assembled parents to thank Mr. Heffernan for all his contributions to Cloonloo.

On the 10th November 2017, a retirement mass and function was held for Mr. Heffernan and his family.  Past and present parents, staff members and pupils attended as did members of the local community.    Ms. Surlis, Ms. Jordan and Fr. Caulfield spoke to those in attendance about Mr. Heffernan and his dedication to the school over the past 12 years. Mr. Heffernan also spoke and thanked everyone for their constant support.   A statue of “The Children of Lir” was presented to Mr. Heffernan on behalf of the BOM of the school and a bouquet of flowers was presented to his wife Joan.

The enjoyable evening concluded with a “cupan tae”, a piece of Mr. Heffernan’s retirement cake and the taking of many photographs.

Thank you Mr. Heffernan for your many years of tireless commitment, enthusiasm and dedication to St. Ronan’s N.S. Cloonloo.  We hope you enjoy your well-earned retirement!
