Ethos

St. Ronan’s N.S. is a Catholic School where the Management and Staff strive to foster Christian values.  The children in this school are all cherished equally and cared for physically, spiritually, emotionally and academically.  Every effort is made to assist them to develop at a personal and academic level.  Parents and guardians are encouraged to take an active role in the education of their children and as part of the school community.  While St. Ronan’s is a school with a Catholic ethos, it also has due recognition for other beliefs.

St. Ronan’s N.S . is a co-educational Catholic primary school under the patronage of the Bishop of Achonry.  The Board of Management, the parents and the parish community  work together to provide Religious Education for the pupils in accordance with the doctrines, practices and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.  Our school has adopted the ‘Grow in Love’ programme, the recommended approach to religious education for the reception of the sacraments of Penance, Holy Communion and Confirmation.  We promote the formation of the pupils in the Catholic Faith in a manner that is welcoming to and inclusive of the presence of pupils committed to other religious traditions.

Our Christian ethos also permeates the school day through our actions, attitudes and practices:

  • We provide opportunities for daily prayer, the celebration of liturgy and the sacraments.
  • We strive to create a learning environment where every child is encouraged and enabled to develop to their full and unique potential as human beings.
  • We seek to form pupils who will unselfishly use their gifts for the common good and are committed to work for a more just and caring society.
  • We provide a welcoming and inclusive community that is respectful and tolerant of all religious traditions and beliefs.
