Congratulations to our boys and girls teams who took part in Cumann na mBunscol 2022.

Below are some pictures of our day out at the Strandhill GAA Centre of Excellence on Thursday 26th May.

The girls played Castlerock, Ballinlig and Keash. The boys played three teams also- Castlegal, Castelrock and Killavil. There was some great sportsmanship and skills shown from all the boys and girls representing St. Ronan’s N.S.

The boys successfully won one match even with an injured team member who could only use one hand!

The girls did really well also with some great saves, tackling and football skills on display.

Well done all!

On Monday 28th May, we played in a blitz in St. Pat’s Dromard at 11a.m.  There were four school involved; Culleens, Kilrusheighter, Killavil and ourselves.   The top two teams qualify for the final in Markievicz Park on Saturday 16th June and on the day the top two teams were Kilrusheighter and…..Cloonloo……FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW.  Kilrusheighter won all three of their matches and Cloonloo won two.  We face each other again on the 16th….May The Best Team Win!!!

Hard luck to our Gaelic Football team who were not successful this year in the Cumann na mBunscol 1/2  Teacher Mixed Final in Markievicz Park on Saturday 16th June. We were playing Kilrusheighter N.S. in the County Final for the third year in a row.  It was third time lucky for Kilrusheighter….but some famous last words….WE’LL BE BACK!!!

This is what Diarmuid (2nd Class) had to say:

On Saturday 16th of June, our school played in the Cumann na mBunscol Final in Markievicz Park in Sligo.  It was a Gaelic match.  The ref tossed a coin in the air to see who wore the green and yellow jerseys because Kilrusheighter N.S. and our school both had blue and white jerseys.  We had to wear the green and yellow jerseys.  I played in the 2nd half.  At the end of the match, Kilrusheighter won.  We got silver medals and Kilrusheighter N.S. got gold medals and the shield.  After, we went to McDonald’s.  It was great fun for my first time playing.
